Ben
May
and his girlfriend own a cat named Elvis. She adopted him from the ASPCA in
1994. They were told that he was two. Ben always wondered what breed he was,
and posted a photo of him on an online forum he moderates (nothing to do with
cats); a Thai user replied and said "WHERE DID YOU GET THIS CAT?! He is
the royal cat of Thailand." Intruiged Ben finally googled this website.
"The description of behavior on your website is REALLY accurate. When I
first moved in, I was a little unnerved by his habit of maintaining eye contact
for minutes at a time. He is very playful, and loves to wait until you're looking
at him to bolt away and do something goofy. He's very particular and LOVES getting
petted but only on his own terms. He's strong as anything, and still runs around
like a kitten despite being at LEAST 13 years old.
Could he be a khao manee? If he is then how did he end up in a Manhattan ASCPA
in 1994, when nobody bred this type of cat outside of asia until 1999? Perhaps
he was taken from Thailand to the states and then abandoned?"
He’s now Elvis' little brother. Ben found him living on the street in a feral colony in Manhattan and managed to catch him when he was 6 weeks old. He’s now about 4 months old.
And here’s some updated pictures of Elvis, just for fun!
